Glen Iris Scorpions is a junior domestic basketball club associated with the Waverley Basketball Association. We have teams for boys and girls from under 8 to under 20.
About our club
We are a volunteer-run club. All committee members, most coaches and other club officials are volunteers. The club exists for the kids and there is an onus and responsibility on the whole extended club (players and parents) to help make it a great experience for all.
Our club encourages participation, team spirit and the social and sporting development of all players.
WINTER 2024 SEASON – TEAMS ANNOUNCED

We wish all our teams the very best for a fun season of basketball.
Please note that many hours have been spent by our dedicated volunteers to craft teams to the best of our ability to include friendship requests, player skills and the need for balanced teams formed from the number of registrations received in each age group. We thank our volunteer Age Group Coordinators for their time and efforts.
Please note that the Club reserves the right to move players within the first five weeks of the season if the Committee/Age Group Coordinator/WBA thinks that individual players have been placed in the wrong division or if we need to balance numbers within teams of the same age group.
Games and training
The Winter 2024 season runs during the school terms 2 and 3. Please note that Saturday and Sunday games for round 1 are scheduled for 13th and 14th April – the last weekend of the school holidays.
Games will be played at Waverley Stadium, Oakleigh Recreation Centre or Ashburton Primary School and commence on:
- Saturday 13th April for U8, U10, U12 & U14 Boys and Girls, & U16 Boys
- Sunday 14th April for U18 Boys & U20 Boys
- Tuesday 16th April for U16, U18 & U20 Girls

U8-U14 age groups training sessions usually commence the week of round 1 and are held on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday after school. Teams will be informed of their training time and location closer to the season commencing. Please note that due to court and player availability we do not offer training for U16 or U18 teams. Individual teams may arrange training if they wish. Please email the Club if you wish to discuss this option via scorpionscoaches@gmail.com.

UNIFORMS
Uniform orders can be made directly with our supplier First Ever here. Please order as soon as possible to allow for delivery prior to season commencement. Please note that new players will need to contact our Uniform Coordinator at scorpionsuniforms@gmail.com to confirm a singlet number prior to ordering.
Uniform sample sizes will be available to try on Thursday 22 February, 4:45 – 6:15pm at Waverley Basketball Stadium in the canteen area. Other Scorpions merchandise may be available for sale at this time.
